Girls Outshine Boys in BA/BSc Exam; Punjab College student bags first slot

Once again girls outdid boys in BA/BSc annual examination as Punjab Colleges Zonaira Nasir bagged an overall first position, APakistanNews.Com reported on Tuesday. The pass percentage in BA, BSc annual examination 2009 remained 28.75, as 49, 393 out of the total 1,71,624 candidates were declared successful in the examination held by the Punjab University (PU). All the overall top six positions, three in BSc and three in BA, were secured by girl students while none of the boys obtained any top position in both the examinations. The three top positions in BA were bagged by the external candidates. Iraq: 41 Killed as Suicide Bomber Struck Army Recruit centre

A suicide bomber on Tuesday detonated his payload at a crowded Iraqi army recruitment centre in Baghdad killing 41 people and injuring over 100. The attack, which wounded at least 112 other people, occurred at around 7:30 am local time in the Baab al-Muatham neighbourhood of central Baghdad. Upper Sindh Put on Red Alert as Flood Threat Looms

Authorities have issued orders to the people of Kot Sabzal to evacuate due to the surging water in River Indus while areas of upper Sindh including Shahdad Kot, Sajawal, Rato Dero and Qabo Saeed Khan have also been declared red zone. Floods have turned their directions towards Keerthar Canal in Jacobabad after water was seen flowing backwards due to destruction of gates located at Karang Regulator near Shahdadkot. DCO Shahdadkot directed evacuation of 150 villages including Qabo Saeed Khan on emergency basis after the district was alerted against potential flooding. As many as 25 villages located in Tehsil Manjhand of Jamshoro District have been flooded, leaving thousands of people stranded. Investigation to be Carried out for Spilling Water Into Cities of Sindh: Hussain Haroon

UN ambassador to Pakistan Abdullah Hussain Haroon said that relief campaign is being disturbed due to unavailability of foreign aid due to bad past record of Pakistan during 2005 earthquake. Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Abdullah Haroon said that devastation of worth 20 billion dollars has been done so far in the country. He also said that after the 2005 earthquake aid issue, no foreign aid is being sent to Pakistan due to a bad past record; however this is causing problems for the flood relief campaign. YOG 2010: Pakistan to Face Ghana in Opening Match today

Pakistans boys hockey team will face Ghana in the opening match of the first Youth Olympic Games today at Seng Kang Hockey Stadium Singapore. Twelve hockey teams from around the world are participating in the event. Six boys and six girls teams will play 36 matches in total to find out who the first Youth Olympic Champions in hockey will be. To be eligible for the hockey tournament of the YOG 2010, athletes must have been born between January 1 1993 and December 31 1994. Pakistan hockey coach Michel van den Heuvel yesterday arrived from Holland to join the teams training camp under way in Abbottabad for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
