Muttiah Muralitharan Retires from International Cricket

Muttiah Muralitharan 203x300 Muttiah Muralitharan Retires from International CricketWorld top spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has decided to retire from International cricket after first Test against India in Galle. The test match is starting from 18th July. He will not play any series after his retirement. According to information he will be available to Sri Lankan team after retirement for world cup 2011.

Murali is world class spinner and he has a record of top maximum wickets in Test cricket. He got 792 wickets in test cricket and in ODI’s he got 515 wickets. He planned to retire in during the West Indies series in November but postponed its decision due to upcoming Indian series. Selectors said that he will be called in world cup 2011 if they will not able to get his replacement.

He played 132 test matches and also represents Sri Lanka in 337 ODI’s. He is currently holding 792 wickets and he wants to complete 800 wickets in the last test match of his career. Earlier he stated that he is too old to play in test matches as he could only be able to bowl 16 over a day. He also consented to play in ODI’s as he is fit to mange 10 over in the inning. With the retirement of Murali excellent chapter of spin bowling will also close.
