mubarak resigne Mubarak Resignation:Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is reportedly stepping down. Protesters reacted immediately after Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman announced on state television Friday that President Hosni Mubarak was stepping down.

Mubarak was facing a nationwide strike and international pressure so finally he resigned his position tonight, on the 17th day of protests against his autocracy. Al Jazeera live feed, its Egypt coverage besting every US news channel as per usual, is here. Mubarak was absent from a meeting of the Egyptian Military Council today, which issued a statement that it was considering Mubarak’s future.  Army will be taking power, rather than Suleiman. The White House calls the situation fluid. No doubt of that!
