Latest Update News:-Lesson Number Green,  This post is a result from reflection after a number of occurrences last week. First and foremost was a webconference by Joseph Perkins on Inquiry Based Learning. Despite the fact that I believe I utilise inquiry based learning and the inquiry process in my teaching regularly, it is always refreshing to experience someone else’s structure and thinking around the issue. Secondly was an honest and open conversation I had with one of my students after our lesson last Friday. I had picked up during the lesson that this student was not learning at the pace I intended or expected she was capable of. I appreciate the honesty she showed in our conversation at the end of the lesson, I learnt a considerable amount about my teaching processes through that conversation. Thirdly, was an off hand comment (phrased as a joke) by another of my students who stated they learnt more in a lesson where another teacher covered my absence than when I am there.

This year I have some students who do not experience optimal learning in my preferred learning environments – a relaxed environment utilising critical conversation when face to face.
