Latest Upadtes Jagan Mohan Reddy:-The Congress party is not happy with Jagan Mohan Reddy and his TV channel Sakshi TV. Sources in the party indicated that Reddy, son of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, could be slapped with a show-cause notice for the programmes criticising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, that were telecast on his television network.

Jagan along with his mother YS Vijayamma has submitted their resignations today. This is the first step fired by Jagan Mohan Reddy who is on his way to launch his own party. Jagan Mohan Reddy resigned as the Member of Parliament, while Vijayamma resigned as Congress MLA from Pulivendula Assembly seat. He faxed his resignation letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar which has been accepted by the Speaker. Unofficial reports say that Jagan has the backing of at least 5 MPs.

Just after the announcement of his resignation, Jagan’s supporters from all over the state have started their celebrations. Hundreds of supporters gathered at his residence in Hyderabad. His vehicle had a tough time in moving out. They condemned the way in which AICC has treated Jagan. Effigies of Sonia Gandhi have been burnt.

Since his father died, Jagan Mohan has been keen on projecting himself as a mass leader.  Jagan has been defying Congress leadership by going on ‘Odarpu yatra’ (consolation) reportedly to meet and console the family members of people who committed suicide of died of shock following the death of his father YS Rajashekhar Reddy. Sakshi TV, a channel owned by Jagan, has also been very critical of Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party General Seceretary Rahul Gandhi.

In fact a Sakshi TV programme aired on the night of November 25 attributed Congress’ debacle in Bihar to Rahul’s depleting magic. Jagan also claimed that Sakshi TV is an independent media organisation.
