Beatriz Recari Wins First US LPGA Title

Beatriz Recari of Spain grabbed her first US LPGA title taking a lead of one shot over Frenchman Gwladys Nocera on Sunday. This is a memorable victory for the Spaniard as she fought well in difficult soggy conditions.

The 23-year-old Recari carded a two-under 70 for a 14-under par total of 274 in the pharmacy LPGA Challenge.

Recari held her nerve to gain a par at the final hole to oust Nocers, who also birdied the final hole to score 70 for her total of 275.

Michelle Redman carded a 72 and was tied for third on 276 with France’s Karine Icher, who also carded a 70.

Cristie Kerr of the USA missed a chance to push Japan’s Ai Miyazato to the number two spot after finishing with 277. Wendy Ward (72) was also tied with Kerr at her final round.

Recari pocketed 165,000-dollar as prize from this event. The win also came to her after 14 months.  She won her last professional title at the Finnair Masters in August 2009.
